About us
Nook began in 2009 as a retail store on Browning Street in South Brisbane. Our focus was on local and handmade goods: pieces that you would keep for a lifetime. While the storefront closed in 2021 and we moved wholly online, our ethos has never changed.
A new chapter begins in late 2022 with Nook’s new owner, Edith, and her side-kick, Pickles the shop dog. Edith was a uni student when she discovered Nook in the early 2010s. It became her go-to place for discovering local hand makers and artists, where she was able to find that special gift or card, and where she would invest in beautiful pieces for her home. She finished uni and went on her way to work as an engineer in the Australian manufacturing space for the better half of that decade, and even proudly had chocolates stocked at Nook (check out K’Kao in Sumner Park)! It was a bittersweet moment, full of anxiety and excitement when she purchased Nook.
Watch this space, as Nook grows and evolves, with a continued passion for consciously designed, locally produced and hand made. We hope Nook will continue to be your go-to place to shop for that special something.
